TYING INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Pull on the anchor beads to release the knot.

  2. Wrap your waist beads around your waist so that each end meets in the front. Make sure to place the strand where you want it to rest.

  3. Make sure there are enough beads to cover your entire strand without leaving any gaps in the beads. Move excess beads (if any) to the end near the anchor beads.

  4. Criss cross the strands as if you were tying your shoes. Tie 2 or 3 knots in the strand, ensuring no beads become trapped in the knot.

  5. Cut off the anchor beads, allowing the excess beads to fall into a cup or other container.

  6. Separate the four pieces of thread (two on each side of the knot), and tie those in a knot 2 or 3 times as well to further secure your waist beads. Cut off the excess thread, leaving about ½ cm.

  7. If you feel comfortable, you can lightly burn the ends that you cut with a lighter.

  2. Take your time. If you become overwhelmed or frustrated, remember that it is okay to take a break.

  3. Be mindful of your waist beads when undressing.
